Feed Usage Policy

RealPatientRatings™ offers two types of comment feeds for members.

The COMMENTS FEED is available for use on your practice website.

The COMMENTS FEED is also the default feed displayed on your RealPatientRatings.com directory profile until you choose to convert your listing to the RATINGS FEED.

Feed options for your practice website include the following filters:

  • Surgery comments
  • Consult comments
  • Surgery + Consult combined comments
  • Procedure comments*

*You may wish to wait to install procedure-specific feeds until there are a sufficient number of comments available

How does RPR filter these comments for display online?

Patients who have given permission for their comments to be shared online with a rating of 4.0 are higher are displayed in the comments feed.

Can I control which comments are displayed on my website?

Yes, the practice may hide patient comments as they choose, but may not edit the comments. If an edit is required to a comment, the RPR team can assist in making changes to specific comments as long as the edit does not violate content or community guidelines.

Can I fix typos and misspellings?

To preserve the authenticity of the patient’s comments, RPR does not edit misspellings or typos. Many of the survey respondents are completing the survey on a mobile device, which may result in an increased number of typographical errors but also yields a significantly higher response rate to the survey.

Are the comments looked at by anyone before they are published online?

The RPR team reads and approves all comments prior to publication to verify that no private information or content that violates our community guidelines has been included in the comment. This includes profanity, hate speech, medical information that may cause harm to others, names of patients, and names of other medical professionals who are not employed by the RPR member’s practice.  The complete community and content guidelines are available for review on the RPR website.

How long should it take my website provider to install the buttons & feeds?

The addition of the button and feed is a very simple task that should not take more than 30 minutes for an intermediate web developer to implement.

The RATINGS FEED includes an aggregate score with star ratings (as seen to the right) and displays all patient comments regardless of rating.

For this authenticity, Google has rewarded RealPatientRatings.com with the inclusion of star ratings in search engine results. Maintaining this authenticity is crucial to delivering valuable search engine results and top rankings for RPR members and accurate information to consumers.

When should I turn my stars on?

You may display your star ratings at any time you choose. We encourage you to turn them on as soon as possible to benefit from the positive effects on your search engine optimization efforts. If you discontinue membership, your directory profile will revert to the COMMENTS FEED.

Can any comments be removed or editing from the RATINGS FEED?

The only patient comments that may be edited or removed from the Ratings Feed are those which violate the content and community guidelines.

This includes profanity, hate speech, medical information that may cause harm to others, names of patients, and names of other medical professionals who are not employed by the RPR member’s practice.
